About Food Delivery Vehicles

It is the government’s responsibility and right to protect consumers from food safety, which includes the regulation of food delivery and the different means of transportation used by the industry. The law states that vehicles or containers that are used to transport food, raw materials and ingredients must be kept clean and maintained in perfect condition as to protect food from contamination. The vehicles must also be designed in a way that it cleaning and disinfection is easy and convenient.

The boxes or containers used to hold food or ingredients must not be used to hold anything other than food as it can cause contamination as well. When the vehicle is used to transport food and other non-food products at the same time, the products need to be separated, again, to avoid contamination like placed in separate sealed containers or boxes.

Food that comes in liquid, granules or powder must be sealed in containers that are only used to hold food and transported in vehicles used only in delivering food as well. The containers need to be marked in a way that is visible, clear and indelible or cannot be removed, to show that it is being used for transporting food.

The vehicles like van, truck or container used in the transportation of food must be cleaned all the time in between loads also to avoid contamination. When necessary, the means of transportation used must be able to allow monitoring of the temperature inside the vehicles.

All of the things mentioned will ensure the food is delivered as safely as possible to protect public welfare.
